METALLOGRAPHY / PHOTOMICROGRAPHY

Metallography: It is the science and art of preparing a metal surface for analysis by grinding, polishing, and etching to reveal microstructual constituents. After preparation, the sample can be analyzed using optical microscopy. A metallurgist  may be able to identify the different microstructural phases and predict the processing conditions of the sample.
Photomicrography: Photomicrography, is the art of photographing the microstrctures or optical microscopic views. Usually attaching a poloroid orregular SLR camera to a camera port, the photographs are taken. By attaching a digital camera attachment to the optical microscope, the optical views could be digitally saved and will make it easy to incorporate in to the reports.
